Hamden: On Saturday August 18, 2012, the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden held their “Friend Day - Fun Day”. It was a day filled with fun learning activities. The students were great role models for their friends, helping to teach them by leading as an example. There were contests held throughout the class and everyone who participated in the “Friend Day - Fun Day” won prizes to take home.
“The day’s activities were designed to help build our students’ self-esteem by having them help to teach their friends. The students work hard to understand the Martial Arts movements we teach, and the contests chosen for the day helped to enlighten our students and show them how well they are doing with understanding those movements. Our students also were very successful in explaining and demonstrating the school rules (respect, self-control and self-discipline). I was very proud to see how well the students were able to help their guests to understand some of the things we do here at the Academy,” said Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, a 5th Degree Black Belt and Instructor at the Academy.
