Free Martial Arts Lesson for Food

Frank Ciarleglio - Food Drive 2009

Academy of Kempo Martial Arts 2009 - Food Drive

Hamden: Shihan Frank Ciarleglio, (pictured above) the Instructor at the Academy of Kempo Martial Arts in Hamden is separating the food collected in October for Saint Ann’s Soup Kitchen and the Keefe Center’s Food Bank. The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts of Hamden kicked off their annual food drive in September and has donated 25 bags of food to date.

The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts is accepting donations for these two organizations to help the many families who have a limited amount of resources available to them due to current economic conditions. The goal of the Academy is to help these organizations to help these families enjoy their holidays by holding this food drive, and the Academy hopes that during this season of giving that they can encourage others to help also.

The Academy is offering its students a free semi-private lesson for any five or more non-perishable items they donate and offering two weeks of free lessons to non-students (limited to one give away per person and cannot be combined). “I am offering these free Martial Arts lessons as a way of me giving back to those who give, and I am also hoping that it will encourage others to give when they would not have normally done so. This is a great opportunity for students to get some one-on-one training and for non-students who always wanted to try the Martial Arts to be able to do so. These are rough times that we live in and some self-defense in these trying times should be a necessity not a luxury”, said Ciarleglio.

The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts is accepting donations now through the end of the holiday season, at 1890 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden Connecticut, 06514. You can also contact the Academy by phone at (203) 288-9990, or visit them on the web at www.academyofkempo.com to find out what are the best times to drop off your donations and receive your gift.
